We are in the midst of addressing one of the darkest chapters in our turbulent national history. The wrong done to our fellow citizens in Mother and Baby homes cannot be undone, but we can bear witness to their suffering and work to create relationships that alleviate pain and foster healing.
In the words of Paul Goodman, one of the founders of Gestalt psychotherapy:
“if one takes a step there will be ground underfoot: one gives oneself
unhesitatingly to the act, one has faith that the background will produce the means”.
At the Gestalt Institute of Ireland we are committed to taking that step, maintaining a presence with those who suffer, whether members of our community, clients or those yet to be known to us, and remaining ever vigilant in the way we use our power and privilege.
