Description of Work and Background:From an early age, I've had a strong and enduring passion for meditation/personal development, nature and spirituality. I was born in England and came to Ireland in the early 90's, drawn to the wildness of the land here. This started a transformative ball rolling in terms of living in nature and working with various therapists and showed me first-hand the power of entering into therapeutic relationship.
I trained & worked as a group facilitator for Concerned Persons in an Addiction Treatment Centre. It was here I realised the deep fulfilment I felt from working with others in the service of accessing different ways of responding to life rather than the repetitive painful loops we can sometimes find ourselves in. I attended an Ecotherapy course (on how to access the healing power of wild places) and also around this time I started working with a Gestalt therapist and realised I wanted to work with people in nature. I graduated from the I.G.C. in 2016. During this time I began teaching Meditation and Mindfulness; my Gestalt training supports me in exploring effective ways to offer what I have learned from a lifetime's Practice. Most importantly, Gestalt teaches me the blessing of a non-judgemental attitude, appreciating ALL aspects of myself and by extension to others and what they bring to the session. As I practice being with 'what is', my clients can absorb new ways to be with themselves; ones which raise self-awareness, understanding and engender self-compassion. Making choices and acting from these places creates a fuller, more vital way of living. I am available to teach meditation, bring people to Nature and see clients one-to-one. PgDip Gestalt Psychotherapy; M.Ps.S.I. Clinical Psychology
Description of Work and Background:I qualified as a Gestalt psychotherapist with The Gestalt Institute of Ireland and SETU, and I am currently working towards an MA in Gestalt Psychotherapy with same. I also hold an MA in clinical psychology from The University of Social Sciences and Humanities (SWPS) in Warsaw, Poland.
I am pre-accredited by IACP (Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and a graduate member of PSI (The Psychological Society of Ireland).
I am of Polish heritage, and I moved to Ireland in 2007, but it was through the Gestalt Therapy training and self-developmental work that I really found a way home to my embodied, authentic Self and to fulfilment in relationships.
As a Gestalt psychotherapist, I work holistically and relationally, paying attention and staying present to the beauty and the fullness of human expression – through body, mind, and spirit; trusting in the healing potential of therapeutic relationship based on dialog, contact, and co-creation.
I see every person as unique, their difference as their beauty, and their inability or struggle as a potential for growth and creative adjustment, meeting clients where they are at in their life journey, through authentic relational encounters and genuine curiosity.
I am committed to providing a confidential and supportive space for people to freely and creatively explore how their past and present life experiences have shaped them the way they are now, and what they might need to face their challenges, be happier and live more choice-fully.
I worked as a therapist in both private sector and as a volunteer. I am also professionally involved in supporting the most vulnerable adults and their families in one of St. John of God’s intellectual disability services. As part of my MA in Gestalt Psychotherapy, I am inquiring into the area of gender identities, sexualities, and heteronormativity.

Description of Work and Background:I have a private psychotherapy practice based in Duncannon, Co. Wexford and also work at the Family Life Service, Wexford.
I provide counselling and psychotherapy for clients presenting with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, bereavement and relationship difficulties as well as work-related problems.
I work from a humanistic and integrative approach. In my work as a therapist, I emphasise the importance of the therapeutic relationship, providing a supportive and secure environment for the exploration and development of deeper personal integration. I believe this can be achieved by exploring feelings thereby helping clients gain insight into their symptoms while supporting them to become aware of their options.
Working as a teacher and homeschool liaison coordinator at a post-primary school has given me great insight into the underlying issues of concern to both young people and their parents. I am a trained facilitator in the HSE Family Communications Programme as well as the Parents Plus Programme and have worked with several groups of parents in a community setting.I have a particular interest in working with adolescents and young adults.

Description of Work and Background:I am a qualified Psychotherapist/Counsellor having trained for four years with the Gestalt Institute of Ireland. I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Gestalt Psychotherapy and I am a member of The Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy.
I have worked in the therapeutic field for 20 years, having trained as a Reflexologist over 20 years ago. I worked mostly using a technique called African Reflexology which is a gentle therapy which allows the client to "open up". Following on I studied Facilitation Skills and Personal Development (SPHE) in Waterford Institute of Technology. I found that this enabled me to bring more of myself to my work with clients. And, almost as a natural progression, I embarked on my training which led me to be a Gestalt Psychotherapist.
I worked for almost 12 years with a Cancer Support Centre, facilitating Bereavement Support Groups, Care Givers Support Groups and working one to one with clients who had a diagnosis or were affected by a diagnosis, of cancer. I have also delivered a parenting programme for the HSE for several years. I teach Mindfulness and Meditation and deliver personal development workshops.
I provide a safe, supportive, non-judgemental and confidential space for my clients, where my own humanity can meet theirs, and where we can explore together the many challenges clients bring. I draw from my many years of experience working both with groups and with individuals, which helps me to work creatively and gently with each person who comes to me for counselling.
I work both in private practice and also, in Family Life Services in Wexford.

Description of Work and Background:‘Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous” Actually, who are you not to be’?
I have a profound interest and belief that you the client are doing your very best at all times (with your knowledge, awareness and experience). If you are willing I can endeavour to support you toward your light (your true self). Firstly to come into your light you have to really get to a felt sense of your darkness in the presence of a compassionate other. I am passionate about the healing that happens whilst staying in the ‘here and now’ moment in therapy. The key to any recovery or healing is the relationship that is built up between client and therapist. My own awareness of my inner critic and compassion toward myself models clients to practice this self- compassion and awareness for themselves. If you feel I could be of support to you on your journey of self discovery I look forward to hearing from you.

Description of Work and Background:I became interested in counselling after being on a Personal Development Course with the Irish Gestalt Centre. I was and still am fascinated by the way people respond to Gestalt counselling. From my own experience I know how it feels to discover something new about myself and my patterns of behaviour. I feel I bring this excitement and enthusiasm into my work with clients, along with experience, warmth and humour.
Since starting work as a therapist I have worked with a diverse range of difficulties such as depression, anxiety, relationship issues, work related issues, addiction, sexuality, sexual abuse and bereavement. I operate on the basis that we all have the ability to solve our problems. Sometimes we get stuck and need help. I see my role as counsellor as helping the person to see clearly what their situation is and find out how they are part of it. Then we experiment together with finding new ways of facing the difficulty.
I offer one-to-one counselling, couple counselling, meditation and personal development groups. For more information about how I work please visit www.sligogestaltcounselling.ie

Description of Work and Background:Martina has an expansive training background which she draws from in working creatively with individuals. Martina is an experienced facilitator, having worked in the community development sector in Ireland for over 15 years. She took her Masters in 2011; exploring the role of Spirituality in the identity formation of young Irish women.
Martina works from an holistic approach, using an indirect, person centred method, following the client’s lead. The Gestalt approach to counselling is grounded in the here-and-now. This means that what you are experiencing in the present moment, in the therapy room or with your partner, takes precedence over your past experiences. This means that the therapy process is alive and present-centred.
The foundations of Gestalt therapy are based on awareness. Working with clients is based on supporting them in raising their awareness about how they are living their lives. In being more aware, Gestalt therapy can then help you make more positive choices that will have meaning, are creative and will aid you in creating a life with relationships that are fulfilling.
“Change occurs when one becomes what he is, not when he tries to become what he is not” Arnold Beisser
Martina also facilitates creative development programs such as the widely acclaimed ‘Artist’s Way’, and her own programmes; ‘Writing your Sacred Journey’ and ‘The Way of The Inner Teacher’.

Michael also works with sports teams and high-performance athletes. His work is unique, in that he supports and teaches teams of athletes, as well as individual athletes in one to one sessions, how to identify and undo the embodied holding of stress and anxiety in their bodies. The unconscious holding of stress and anxiety by athletes is the single greatest contributing factor that leads them to choke, an experience which is the single greatest barrier towards optimal individual and team performance.

Diploma Irish Gestalt Centre
Description of Work and Background:Following my 5 year psychotherapy training with the Irish Gestalt Centre and graduation in 2008, I took a placement with the Student Counselling Centre in U.L. Student counselling is a primary care service with clients self referring in the main with the full range of clinical disorders. I followed this with an internship in ‘Oakwood’ (a private mental health service) run by Dr. Declan Aherne gaining experience with wider range of clients and general disorders. Subsequently, I moved to South Tipperary where I became part of the team to establish ‘Clonmel Counselling Centre’ and currently practises there in a private capacity. While Gestalt therapy is my main therapeutic practice I also employ C.B.T. techniques, developed while training in MBCT at the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice at Bangor University, Wales. During my practice as a psychotherapist I became aware of patterns of stress in individual people’s lives and became interested in the beneficial effects of meditation on mental and physical health. This interest is rooted in my own practice & meditation background which has contributed to an increased capacity to being ‘present’ in the ‘now’ with clients. I also teach mindfulness courses and workshops in Clonmel, Cahir and Athlone.

Description of Work and Background:I have a private psychotherapy practice in Galway.
My more senior age experience has facilitated an easy relationship with clients of all ages. Being Granddad to young grandchildren further informs my understanding of family dynamics today.
I have worked with a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, panic attacks, the impact of childhood trauma, loss and grief, and relationship challenges. I have a particular interest in the challenges presented by the changing role and expectations of men in the world today. From a workplace perspective, the most common issues include stress, burnout, relationships, and bullying.
My role as Chairman of a National School in Galway has given me an understanding of the challenges being experienced by all the members of our school communities, children, parents, and teachers.
The foundation of my therapy is based on Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy. Building a trusting, non-judgemental and supportive environment I create a safe space from which clients can explore the issues which face them. In my own unique style grounded in compassion, understanding, and encouragement clients are empowered to examine and address the challenges they face. Each of us is on our own personal journey, a journey where self-awareness can allow us to live a happier and more fulfilled life.
