Dan McCarthy Retires
Past students of GII from far and wide gathered with current students and the staff team at the end of the summer workshop to mark the retirement of Dan McCarthy.
On behalf of the GII Alumni Association Gill Leo presented Dan with a bound volume containing a collection of individual memories in the form of photographs, poems and writings. Current students, represented by Brid Dunne and Denis Murphy, presented him with a specially commissioned artist’s drawing. Tribute was paid by the Chair of the Board to the huge contribution Dan has made to the lives of all those he worked with. In her speech thanking Dan for all his work, Tricia Norris described him as a ‘stalwart companion whose knowledge, integrity and solid presence has been an immense support to both his colleagues and his students.
Dan will be sorely missed and all at GII wish him a long and happy retirement
