Description of Work and Background:

Martina has an expansive training background which she draws from in working creatively with individuals. Martina is an experienced facilitator, having worked in the community development sector in Ireland for over 15 years. She took her Masters in 2011; exploring the role of Spirituality in the identity formation of young Irish women.
Martina works from an holistic approach, using an indirect, person centred method, following the client’s lead. The Gestalt approach to counselling is grounded in the here-and-now. This means that what you are experiencing in the present moment, in the therapy room or with your partner, takes precedence over your past experiences. This means that the therapy process is alive and present-centred.
The foundations of Gestalt therapy are based on awareness. Working with clients is based on supporting them in raising their awareness about how they are living their lives. In being more aware, Gestalt therapy can then help you make more positive choices that will have meaning, are creative and will aid you in creating a life with relationships that are fulfilling.
“Change occurs when one becomes what he is, not when he tries to become what he is not” Arnold Beisser
Martina also facilitates creative development programs such as the widely acclaimed ‘Artist’s Way’, and her own programmes; ‘Writing your Sacred Journey’ and ‘The Way of The Inner Teacher’.
