Olive Fanning

Description of Work and Background:

Olive is an accredited Gestalt Psychotherapist (Irish Gestalt Centre) working in Teach Bhríde, Carlow and in private practice. Olive works from a humanistic and integrative approach. She has a background in health promotion, holistic health and training with over 20 years’ experience of developing, delivering and facilitating a large range of personal development and holistic health programmes. She is an advanced facilitator with a deep understanding of the complex determinants that underpin our health and wellbeing. These experiences support her to work creatively with each individual client based on their unique needs.
Olive has a deep belief in each person’s potential for growth and their capacity to respond to change and to find meaning and direction in their own lives. In her work she emphasises the importance of the therapeutic relationship, providing a supportive and safe environment for the exploration and development of deeper personal wholeness and integration through awareness in the here and now. She believes that each person has the capacity for true contact and awareness both within themselves and in their relationships with others. She has experience of working with people with a range of psychological and emotional issues including stress, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, problematic relationships, recovery from addiction, bereavement, loss and life transitions. Olive offers both short and long-term psychotherapy sessions based on the needs of the client. She attends regular supervisions and continued professional development.
