Sharon Murphy

Description of Work and Background:

My name is Sharon Murphy and I am a gestalt counsellor/psychotherapist based in South Kilkenny, providing both in-person and online therapy.

I work relationally and offer a warm, confidential, safe space to explore together the issues that have brought you to therapy.

I trained as a reflexologist and aura soma colour therapist 25 years ago and have worked in cancer support centres and special schools. Then, after completing my HDip (SPHE), I worked in School Completion, working therapeutically with those struggling in the education system for various reasons, and with their families. I particularly enjoy working with parents and am an experienced facilitator of the HSE Family Communications & Self Esteem Programme. I am also experienced in the area of intellectual disability. I provide a Disability Psychotherapy Service in an organisation that supports adults with ID and provide professional supervision and a reflective practice space for the social care staff there.

I like to work creatively with clients using symbols, images, and colour to explore the issues they bring to therapy. I am experienced in working with a broad spectrum of issues including depression, anxiety, stress, relationships, parenting, and work-related challenges.
